Liza Dalby has created a fascinating web site, and the section devoted to East Wind does not disappoint. Here's the link. Be sure not to miss the link to the upper left of her page, titled "audiovisual almanac journal"---but don't go there unless you have more than a couple of minutes. As quirky and marvelous as the book itself, though in a whole different set of media.

For any who may not understand, "s.a.s.e." means "self-addressed, stamped envelope", that is, an envelope (usually #10 or "business-sized" ) addressed to the sender with sufficient first-class postage (currently $0.42 US domestic) to get the item back to the sender. If you're not in US, include an International Reply Coupon in lieu of postage.

Hi Bill,

I was fortunate enough to be invited to the official opening of Katikati and meet up with many of the N.Z. and Australian poets including Janice (Bostok) back in May 2000.

It was an amazing project then, and is an incredible achievement. Thanks Cath (Mair)!

My Area 17 blog has a post about the latest Katikati Haiku Pathway haiku anthology, a useful weblink to Janice's website, plus an image of my very own haiku river boulder! ;-)

all my best,
Alan

Thanks, Gerald (England), for the link to this wonderful view of the Haiku Pathway! Rich with information from your visit and your many correspondents, and a marvelous set of photos.

Thanks also for including my stone among them! <grin>

Bill

PS: I like it if people identify themselves in their comments, usually by signing them. Web names welcome. Here, "Ackworth born" serves a triple purpose, being both Gerald's blog's name, and a name he uses for himself; it's also a link to that blog. Since he's identified there as the blog's author, I hope he'll forgive me for putting his "real" name in my comment!

This is great news. I throughly enjoyed visiting Catherine in 2001 and being shown around the pathway. I recently did an update post on Ackworth born.

.

It's a fantastic achievement! And as Bill points out too, it's down to the crafting of the book. I can only imagine the keen editorship invested in the book by both Roberta and Snapshot Press. I know John would have treated Roberta's book as a labour of love on a professional level, not just a personal one.

It's paid off, and it's being respected as a well-crafted book first, and then as a well-crafted book of poetry, akin to a novel as well.

It's also a fantastic nod to the integrity and consistency of Roberta, and of Snapshot Press.

Well done Roberta, and may it go into many reprints for pure pleasurable reading, and a guide to what a well-edited book can achieve. Many many humble bows to you.
